Do I install the GoodFather CD-ROM on my computer?
Windows®
Systems
1) Insert the GoodFather CD-ROM into your computer's CD-ROM
Drive. The CD will automatically run. Note: If the CD doesn't automatically
run, launch the installation by double-clicking on your computer's
CD-ROM/DVD Drive icon to launch the installation.
2) Follow the on-screen installation
instructions to install the GoodFather.
3) Simply double-click the
GoodFather icon on your desktop (or in your GoodFather program folder)
to begin.
Mac®
Systems
1) Insert the GoodFather CD-ROM into your computer's CD-ROM
Drive.
2) If the CD doesn't automatically
run, double-click the CD icon and then double-click the "Install_GoodFather"
file.
3) Follow the on-screen installation
instructions to install the GoodFather.

How
do I use the toolbar in the GoodFather's office?
Exit Button:
Selecting the Exit Button
on the toolbar exits the program and initiates the GoodFather's credits
list. Click on the "Skip" button to bypass the credit list.
The GoodFather frowns on skipping the credits, but go ahead and to
it at your own risk.
Help Button:
Clicking the "Help" button on the toolbar
launches the help panel and introduces hotlinked help topics. Select
the small round button (identified by green arrow) on the top of the
help panel to lower the panel and return to the GoodFather's office.
Volume Control:
Scroll the volume button to the left for less volume,
and to the right to increase the volume. If you are unable to control
your volume with the volume slider, check your system's volume control
and make sure the system's speakers are in "on".

How
do I use the GoodFather's Laptop?
The GoodFather's Laptop consists of hundreds
of interactive baby lessons and entertaining baby-related definitions
to teach new dads baby-skills. Learn more about how to access the
lessons and navigate through it's special features by reading the
laptop's subsection help tips.
Menu/Exit Buttons:
The menu button (identified by round button with green "M")
found on the top left hand corner of the laptop will send you to the
GoodFather's laptop menu screen. The menu screen provides instruction
for navigation and tips for accessing the special laptop features.The
exit button (identified by square button with red "E") found
at the top right corner of the laptop will back to the GoodFather's
office.
Searching Lessons:
Much like searching from an ordinary web browser,
the GoodFather's baby lessons and baby-related definitions can be
accessed by typing your topic of interest into the white text box
found at the top of the laptop screen. Once you begin typing into
the text box, the GoodFather's laptop automatically begins searching
for matching lessons. Once a potential match has been identified,
the lesson slider drops down and presents matching lessons.
1) Go to the selected lesson ("selected lesson" identified
by yellow highlight) by clicking on the "Go To Lesson" button.
2) If you would prefer to access another lesson, simply select
it from the list of lessons or type in a new search in the white text
box above.
Keyword Searches:
When the keyword search button is selected, you
are able to type in your baby-related search and immediately see the
closest possible topic listed in a scrolling list organized alphabetically.
Index Searches:
The index search format allows you to search through
baby lessons and baby-related definitions organized by logical topic.
This search feature is particularly useful when you are unsure how
to spell a word, or if you are unsure about what the term actually
is.
Viewing Baby Lessons:
Lessons appear once the topics have been selected
from the keyword lesson list or index search lesson list. GoodFather
baby lessons/definitions come in a variety of formats depending on
the lesson content. Click on the blue rectangular sub-section buttons
to view sub-section topics of interest.
Printable Lessons:
Some GoodFather lessons (identified by printer icon on bottom
left corner) feature printable content. All you need to do to create
printed version is turn on your printer and click on the printer icon
at the corner of the screen.
GoodFather Audio Tips:
From time to time, the GoodFather will have additional information
to share with you..."father to father" you might say. Keep
your eyes peeled because these not so subtle audio tips arrive without
warning! Click on the "T" to hear the GoodFather's audio
tip.

How
do I use the Baby Name Book?
Search through approximately 15,000 baby names
in the GoodFather's Baby Name Book. Save potential names in the "Favorites"
section where you can test them against the GoodFather's hilarious
baby name tips.
Menu/Exit Buttons:
The menu button (identified by round button
with green "M") found on the top left hand corner of the
book will send you to the Baby Name Book's menu screen. The menu screen
provides instruction for navigation and tips for accessing the special
Baby Name Book features. The exit button (identified by square button
with red "E") found at the top right corner of the Baby
Name Book will back to the GoodFather's office.
A-Z Name Buttons:
Selecting a blue letter will send you
to a boy name beginning with that letter, while choosing a pink letter
will send you to a girl's name. There are approximately 15,000 names
total, and the GoodFather has made it easy by allow you to save your
favorites in the "Favorites" section (identified by bookmark).
Prevoius/Next Links:
The "Previous" and "Next"
links help you navigate through the name lists. If you so desire,
you can move through the entire boy/girl name list (one letter at
a time) by starting on "A" and moving through the pages
by repeatedly selecting the "Next" link.
- Click on the "Previous" link to navigate towards the beginning
of each letter's name list.
- Click on the "Next" link to navigate towards the end of
each letter's name list.
Saving Names:
As the GoodFather will tell you when
you first enter the Baby Name Book, save a name by clicking on it
in the name list. View your favorite names by selecting the "Favorites
Bookmark".
Favorites Bookmark:
Click on the "Favorites Bookmark"
to go to the Favorites section where you will find your list of saved
names and the GoodFather's naming tips.
Favorite Name List:
Clicking on a name in the Baby Name
Book saves it in the favorite name list on the left page in the "Favorites
Section".
- The "Delete Name" button can be used to delete a selected
("selected" identified by yellow bar) name from the name
list. Change a selection by clicking on a different name found in
your list.
- The "New Tip" button changes the current name tip.

Step 1:
Choose from one of the GoodFather's five card-types
by clicking inside the yellow "check box" on the left side
of the card. A red checkmark highlights your selection and initiates
the next step's button (Step 2) at the top of the right side of the
card. Your choice will also be shown inside the "Preview"
area on the right side of the card. Click on the "Step 2"
button.
Step 2:
Choose your desired card style by clicking inside
the yellow "check box" on the left side of the card. A red
checkmark highlights your selection and initiates the next step's
button (Step 3) at the top of the right side of the card. Although
your card will still be blank, your choice will be shown in the "Preview"
area on the right side of the card. Click on the "Step 3"
button.
Step 3:
Choose the source of your card's illustration
by clicking inside a yellow "check box" on the left side
of the card. A red checkmark highlights your selection and initiates
a pop-up window to help you complete your illustration choice.
GoodFather's Image:
When you choose the "GoodFather's Image",
a pop-up window presents you with art options. Make your selection
by clicking in the "check box" and your selection will
be shown in the "Preview" area on the right side of the
card. You can change your art by re-selecting one of the two boxes
("GoodFather's Image" or "My Image"). Click
on the "Step 4" button.
"My Image":
When you choose the "My Image",
a pop-up window presents you with your computer's drives, folders,
and files. Make your selection by clicking inside the drive, folder,
and then file that you would like on your card. You can use any
file type you would like, as long as it is a JPG. See the "geek
note" below.
GEEK NOTE: (aka: JPEG, pronounced
"jaypeg") While many popular file types like GIFs are
great for when your image has a limited amount of colors (under
256), photographs are made up of thousands (and millions) of colors.
This particular feature has been designed for those GoodFather's
who would like to import their own photos for use in their custom
baby cards. Because photos saved (read "compressed") as
JPGs will look much smoother saved in this format, Dr.MOZ only supports
this file type in the Baby Card Maker "My Image" import
feature.
SCALING and POSITIONING: Your imported
image will be presented in a pop-up window to allow for scaling,
positioning and/or cropping.
- Shrink the image by choosing the "-" button.
- Stretch the image by choosing the "+" button.
- Position the image by choosing the grab tool (identified by the
hand).
- When satisfied with your selection, click on the "Done"
button.
Your selection will be shown in the "Preview"
area on the right side of the card. You can change your art by re-selecting
one of the two boxes ("GoodFather's Image" or "My
Image"). Click on the "Step 4" button.
Step 4:
Click inside the text boxes to fill in the card
content, or leave it blank if you would like to write it out by hand.
The "Step 5" button is activated to allow you to skip this
step if you would to do so. Your text (or lack of text) will be shown
in the "Preview" area on the right side of the card. Click
on the "Step 5" button to continue.
Step 5:
Choose your font color by clicking inside a
yellow "check box" on the left side of the card. A red checkmark
highlights your selection and initiates a pop-up window to help you
complete your illustration choice. You'll notice that the text inside
the "Preview" area changes color as you make your selection.
Click on the "Step 6" button to continue.
Step 6:
Preview your completed card in the "Preview"
area located on the left side of the card. Preview controls include:
- Increase the viewable size of the card by selecting the "zoom-in"
(identified by magnifying glass with "+").
- Pan away from the preview by selecting the "zoom-out"
button (identified by magnifying glass with "-").
- Move a card around within the preview area by selecting the "grab"
tool (identified by hand).

How
do I uninstall the GoodFather from my computer?
Windows®
Systems
1) Find the GoodFather on your computer's program folder.
2) Click Uninstall to start
the uninstallation.
Mac®
Systems
1) Find the GoodFather folder inside your Applications folder.
2) Pull the GoodFather folder
into the trash can to remove the program from your machine.
